Dozens of Seattle restaurants raise money for aid in Gaza

Led by Yalla, dozens of Seattle restaurants, chefs, pop-ups and retailers will raise money this month for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, a nonprofit nongovernmental organization founded in 1992 that provides aid and medical care to children in the Middle East.

The fundraiser, started by Taylor Cheney at her Middle Eastern street food spot on Capitol Hill last month, has since expanded, with dozens of big-name Seattle restaurants joining her to fundraise toward medical aid for children in Gaza.

“I’m so happy and surprised we have so many [restaurants] joining” the fundraiser, Cheney said. “It’s for a good cause: the Palestinian children.”

Cheney and others have raised about $7,000 so far.

Fundraising days and terms vary for the different participants. For instance, Homer and Milk Drunk on Beacon Hill will donate 100% of sales of soft serve ice cream on Nov. 12 to the relief effort. In North Seattle, Pancita at Pair will donate 10% of sales on Nov. 12, while nearby Frank’s Oyster House will donate 10% of sales on Nov. 14. Next week, Musang on Beacon Hill and Kilig in the Chinatown International District will donate 15% of sales on Nov. 17.
